As the animal casualties in Australia are inching toward a billion, the vigilant Irwin family is worried if there will be any wildlife left for them to save.
In a recent interview, the late Steve Irwin’s wife Terri Irwin and son Robert Irwin explain how the bushfires have gripped the wildlife with fear and hopelessness.

Terri expressed her valid fears over the almost-incinerated koala inhabitants. Being slow-moving creatures, most of the koalas perished in fire because they weren’t able to escape in time like kangaroos.
The 16-year-old Robert struggled to hold back his tears as he expressed his anxiety over the future of the koala population.
“Australian Zoo”, which is the legacy of Steve Irwin, has been a rescue haven for over 90,000 animals throughout this bushfire season.
Sadly, many injured animals have passed away due to the severity of their burns. Robert and Terri are heartbroken, but they aim to keep the rescue work running non-stop and cater to as many animals as possible.

The bushfires are definitely an annihilating blow to the country’s wildlife, but the Irwins are grateful that animal lovers all over the world have banded together as one to handle this crisis.
